From the life of Martha Hughes Cannon:   Martha submitted bills that instituted the pure food act, an ordinance that required merchants to provide chairs for their sales ladies, and an appropriation to establish a school for the deaf and blind. She introduced the legislation that established the Utah State Board of Health. At a later date, she became a member of that same board of directors.
