Yesterday’s answer:
B   Racing her automobile
From the life of Hilda Erickson:   In 1908 I purchased my first automobile, a Stoddard Dayton. Later, I owned a Stutz, a Hupmobile, three Chevies, and five Fords. I was president of the Tooele Stake Primary from 1910 to 1922, and I traveled hundreds of miles through snowdrifts, sand, and mud while visiting Primaries around the county. I also served twenty-five years as Relief Society president. I must confess that I was a fast driver. I used to race the train to Wendover, and I never came in second.
During the Great Depression, I served as secretary of the Grantsville Farm Loan Association. I did a lot of in-depth clerical work for them and got to make long car trips visiting farmers all over Tooele County. I drove my cars until 1953 when a depressing letter arrived from the State of Utah advising me that since I had reached my ninety-fourth birthday, I should stop driving. I can tell you that I was riled, but from then on I traveled as a passenger.
