The Ingenuity of Pioneer Women

When the Saints entered the Salt Lake Valley they just couldn’t enter a store and replace worn clothing. Pioneer women became masters at making clothes last. What did the women collect on the trail, knowing full well they would need the precious commodity later when clothes had to be mended?

 a.      Animal hair caught on shrubs

b.      Stray sheep

c.       Dog hair during shedding season

d.      Traded for native blankets

Yesterday’s answer:

 a.      Take all to help someone in need.
Joseph Smith frequently found recreation in the homemade fun of the frontier. He joined in games of “town ball” (predecessor to baseball) and pulled sticks against all comers. He loved to wrestle; some claim he was never bested. Joseph also intertwined play and work. After gathering a group of boys together for a game of ball, Joseph then led his fellow ballplayers to the home of one of Nauvoo’s widows who needed help.
