The above phrase were the first words to the original Elder certificate to preach the gospel. All missionaries carried these licenses to prove that they had the right to proselyte. I carried one myself and on a few occasions was asked by officers of the law to produce my license. Once shown, there was very little problem. What is the missing word in the opening sentence of the original Elder's certificate?

It started to become a problem with employers to let their employees leave work early to attend the monthly Fast Service. This change was instituted by the First Presidency on December 6, 1896.
