Sir Winston
Churchill
Elders G.
Edward Baddley and Rodney H. Brady, serving in the British mission in August
1954, had the opportunity to visit Sir Winston Churchill at his 400-year-old
country estate. They were asked to escort a vising dignitary to Churchill’s’
home so a gift could be presented to the British prime minister. When they
arrived, Churchill greeted the threesome, offered them drinks, and ex-changed
pleasantries. At the appropriate time, the elders finally stepped forward to
express their appreciation to Churchill for this great works and kindnesses
shown toward the Church. They then presented him with a handsome leather-bound
triple combination. Churchill hurriedly thumbed through the volume and thanked
the givers by raising his glass and making a toast to their good health.
