Elijah Sheets, a native of Pennsylvania, a convert to the Church, and a laborer on the Nauvoo Temple, was the bishop of the 8^th Ward in Salt Lake City for 48 years, the longest active bishop in the Church. Three weeks after his release on June 12, 1904, he died while visiting a son in Rexburg, Idaho.
