The dedication of the Eliza R. Snow monument and rose garden on
October 6, 1956: The ladies of South Utah County, attired in
pioneer dresses and bonnets, provided a choral selection, “Those Pioneers,” and
then Bryant S. Hinckley, noted speaker and writer, addressed the audience. He
told of events in Eliza R. Snow’s life and talked about meeting her when he was
eleven years old. He had good memories of the encounter because she let him
touch a watch which once belonged to Joseph Smith and then testified that she
was the wife of the Prophet.
