years later, on April 6, 1882, while attending general conference in Salt Lake
City, Edward Partridge was again called to go to the Sandwich Islands, this
time to take the presidency of that mission and to take some of his family with
him. On June 1, 1882 Edward and his family took the train for San Francisco.
The party consisted of Edward, his wife Sarah, and two of their sons, who were
to serve as missionaries.
