For her
husband to gain his testimony
From the life of Sarah Cousins Brown: Sarah was born in England, 1819. At age
nineteen, she married Johnathan Brown. After their marriage they moved to
Newbury, Berkshire, England, where seven of their ten children were born.
Here, Sarah heard the Mormon missionaries teaching the
gospel and attended their meetings She said she was much impressed and knew
from the first that the message of the Elders was true. She had been attending
the meetings for some time before her husband became aware of it and when he
learned of it be became so enraged that Sarah had to hide away from home for
some time. When she finally returned home she told Jonathan that she knew the
gospel was true and could not deny it but that she would wait for baptism until
he could be baptized with her. Jonathan started to study Mormonism and soon was
ready to be baptized. Sarah and Jonathan were baptized, 19 Jan, 1852.
