Indians
Monday, April 26th—This morning about 3:30
an alarm was given. The guard on the northwest corner of the camp discovered
some Indians crawling up to the wagons. They fired at them, when six Indians
jumped up and ran. All hands were up and prepared for action in a few minutes,
under their respective captains. Nothing more was seen of the Indians.
Major Howard Egan, Pioneering
