Yesterday’s answer:
C. 4:1 Non-Mormons over Mormons
Beginning in 1847 with the first “Pioneer Company”,
the exodus to the Great Salt Lake valley started. They still had to cross all
of modern-day Nebraska and Wyoming, as well as eastern Utah. They followed
parts of the existing Oregon Trail but in many places made their own trail
across the plains. Sometimes the Mormon Trail went parallel to the Oregon Trail
on the opposite side of a river, to keep the Saints separated from the more
numerous groups headed for Oregon or California. (More than four times as many
non-Mormons as Mormons crossed the plains during the mid-1800’s.)

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1997), 4.
