Mary and Caroline Rollins saving revelations from the mob
July 20, 1833 was an ugly day in the
history of the Church. It was on this day that the printing establishment of W.
W. Phelps was broken into by an Independence, Missouri mob and vandalized. Many
of the revelations for the Book of Commandments were in the publishing stage. A
number of these revelations were thrown into the street by the fury intoxicated
mob. Amazingly two girls, Mary and Caroline Rollins risked their lives to
rescue the revelations and were successful in saving a number of them. However,
there was one other individual that we don’t often hear about when this story is
shared. Who was the individual?

It’s common knowledge that Joseph used
Emma, Martin Harris, and Oliver Cowdery as scribes, and one other individual. A
man named Reuben Hale, Emma’s brother, wrote a little for him.
