False
Five months after the organization of the
Thirteenth Ward (July 1849), its members gathered with Saints from the other
Salt Lake City wards at the recently built “Bowery” on Salt Lake City’s Temple
Square to celebrate their coming to Utah. The firing of cannon, toasts,
speeches, hosanna shouts, and a mix of anger and humor-like, community wide
“deathly groans” to mark the Saints’ past persecutions were all included in the
days celebration.
