As Saints,
we never tire of the stories that have generated from the dedication of the
Kirtland Temple. Many miraculous and amazing events took place for many of the
faithful Saints. The crowning experience was the appearance of the Savior to
the prophet. Was it just the prophet and Oliver Cowdery that saw the Savior on
this occasion, and if not, how many did see Him?

It
was in Kirtland that Joseph Smith groomed four future presidents of the Church
for responsibilities to come. Brigham Young, John Taylor, Wilford Woodruff, and
Lorenzo Snow were baptized during the Kirtland years and led the Church, in
succession, until 1901. In addition, the next three presidents –Joseph F. Smith,
Heber J. Grant, and George Albert Smith, whose administrations lasted until
1951—were direct descendants of stalwart Kirtland pioneers.
