Samuel Cowley
In
July 1934, Samuel P. Cowley, a member of the Church and head of the Bureau of
Investigation’s anti gangster unit, supervises the capture of John Dillinger, a
notorious gangster in Chicago. In the process, Dillinger is killed during a gun
battle.

During a gun battle
between FBI agents and gangster George “Baby Face” Nelson, Inspector Samuel P.
Cowley, the first LDS agent in the FBI and the head of the anti gangster unit,
is mortally wounded. Cowley continues firing his weapon as he falls to the
ground and kills Nelson. Cowley dies the following day (November 27, 1934).
