The Lowered Age Limit for Sister Missionaries in 1953

It was a great announcement at conference to hear that Sisters can now serve a mission at the age of 19. We have friends in Canada, whose daughter is ecstatic at this news. She would have had to wait another year, but is now in the process of submitting her papers. Prior to 1953 what was the minimum age for a sister missionary?

A)                 As long as she had a good understanding of the gospel, the age did not matter

B)                 25

C)                 19

D)                 23
