In April 1880 the Church called Francis Martin Pomeroy on a mission to the natives in the Mesa, Arizona area even though he lived in Mesa. Why did he receive this call?
a.                   He was fluent with their language
b.                   He was the first LDS pioneer to settle in Mesa
c.                   The natives on occasion would camp around his home seeking consultation with him
d.                   He was the only one in the area that had a Book of Mormon that he could read to them
Yesterday’s answer:
B   From the High Lutheran Ecclesiastical Assembly
From the life of August Erickson:   In 1903-1905 he filled a mission to his native land and presided part of the time over the Sundsvall conference. While laboring in that part of Sweden four of the Elders were arrested for preaching the gospel and it fell to the lot of Bro. Erickson to defend them in the police court and in the High Lutheran Ecclesiastical Assembly, which he did in such a manner that the persecutions ended and the Elders enjoyed peace for many years.
