Yesterday’s answer:
C The Priesthood
During
Brigham Young’s presidency, Melchizedek Priesthood men handled almost all
Aaronic Priesthood work in Utah, doing “double duty” by acting in both
priesthoods. One older man who was a seventy served as an acting priest in one
ward and an acting teacher in two wards and was in the stake’s deacon’s quorum
presidency. Another man, an elder, was also both an acting deacon and an acting
teacher. Bishop Hunter often exhorted priesthood men to “magnify both
priesthoods.” The statement “I was an Elder before I was a deacon” was easily
understood during the pioneer period.
