Brigham sees Joseph Smith in vision
Brigham
Young tells of a time when at Winter Quarters he saw Joseph Smith in a dream.
It was during this dream that Joseph instructed Brigham the best way to travel
to the Great Salt Lake Valley. Apparently, Brigham saw another person during
this same dream. Who was that other person?

In Tooele
“the first public house was built in 1854,” John Alexander Bevan recalled. He
also described its lack of amenities: “It was built 28 ft. long by 18 feet
wide, a log-house with a dirt roof. A fireplace in each end stood lengthwise,
north and south, facing the east. There was one small door, and two small
windows in front. The chimneys were built of adobe. The fireplaces were large,
so that the wood could be stood up in them endways, and make a big fire to give
both heat and light. The head of each family made a bench for his family to sit
on. These benches were usually made of slabs, with four legs put in on the
round side of the slab. . . . Besides the fire for light, they had tallow
candles, home-made, and each family was supposed to furnish a candle. The house
was used for all purposes, both religious and otherwise. It was the
schoolhouse, the meeting house, and the amusement hall. It had a pulpit on the
west side near the center. This pulpit, or stand, was about large enough to
hold three men.”
