I just
watched the BYU football team beat Georgia Tech pretty handily 38-20. I usually
don’t watch entire games, but this one I did (other than the 20 minutes I left
to help my son-in-law move a dresser) only because our youngest son (who
attends BYU) was at work and wanted me to text him the scores at the end of
each quarter. I find I have too much other stuff to do and so I usually catch
the highlights later of the BYU Cougars and the Calgary Stampeders (Yes, I
haven’t forgotten my upbringing). It was a great win. So in celebration, a little
BYU fan trivia.
In 1984,
super Cougar fan Gary Jensen of Sandy, Utah did what to his backyard?
a.
Made a mini
Cougar Stadium in his back yard
b.
Transplanted
actual Cougar Stadium turf into his backyard
c.
Painted his
grass blue
d.
Mounted a
stuffed Cougar

b. A. Theodore Tuttle
The famous
flag raising in 1945 on the captured Japanese island of Iwo Jima was made
possible, in part, thanks to a Mormon. The original flag wasn’t dramatic enough
for the photographer, so Elder A. Theodore Tuttle, a marine, was sent to his
ship to retrieve a larger flag. The resulting photo became world famous.
